چکیده

Ultrastructural studies of chick embryo cells morphological ly altered by strain MC29 avian leukosis virus revealed marked and characteristic differences from normal cells and cells al tered by infection with other avian tumor viruses. Such differ ences were manifest in part in the cytoplasm by high content of free ribosomes, poorly developed rough endoplasmic reticu lum, frequent fat droplets, and smooth cell membranes with few pseudopodia or membrane protrusions. Major differences evident also in the nucleus were the distinctly round or spher oidal shape, the prominent single or pained nudeoli, and the high proportion of diffuse chromatin. These morphologic at tributes are characteristic of primitive cells of high potential for metabolic activity and growth, and the differences from other avian oncogenic virus-altered cells are indicative of the genome specificity of the MC29 virus. Potential interrelation ships of cell structure and function were discussed.

Detection of avian leukosis virus (ALV) in albumen of Shiraz commercial and local layer flocks using ELISA and RT-PCR

Avian leukosis viruses (ALVS) cause different types of tumours in poultry and can affect the health and egg production of the birds. To investigate the presence of the virus in chicken layer flocks in Shiraz, 222 egg albumen from local layer breeder (25 eggs), local layer grand parent (30 eggs), broiler breeder (60 eggs), commercial layer (46 eggs) and broiler grand parent (61 eggs) were tested...

Serologic profile of avian leukosis virus subgroup-J, Mycoplasma gallisepticum and Mycoplasma synoviae in broiler grandparent flocks of Iran.

Avian Leukosis Virus Subgroup-J (ALV-J). Mycoplasma gallisepticum (MG) and MycopJasma synviae (MS) are important pathogens in chickens that cause severe economical losses in poultry industry throughout the world. Seven broiler grandparent flocks of Iran (six broiler strains) were sampled randomly at the ages of 8-63 wk (100 samples from each flock) for antibody detection to ALV-J, MG, and MS ...

Metastatic cutaneous neuro- myofibroblastic sarcoma induced by avian leukosis virus subgroup J in a rooster (Gallus gallus domesticus)

An adult native cock (Gallus gallus domesticus) referred to the aviary clinic with multiple different sizes of round dermal nodules. The bird died few days later, and was then submitted for further evaluation. Macroscopic and microscopic examinations as well as a PCR test were done to identify type and cause of the tumor. In histopathological assessment of biopsy specimen, it consisted of inter...

Detection of avian leukosis virus subgroup J in albumen of commercial and native fowl eggs using RT-PCR in Fars province of Iran

The subgroup J of ALV (ALV-J) has emerged as an important pathogen of meat-type chickens since1989. This virus is responsible for economic losses due to both mortality and depressed performance inchickens. So, the objective of this study is the detection of ALV-J in the albumen of commercial and nativefowl eggs using RT-PCR. Three hundred and seventy egg albumens were randomly selected from dif...
